And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again

It's more than half way through January and I have not fulfilled any of my new years resolutions- they're overrated anyways, right?
How can one just completely recreate themselves, their bad habits, their unproductive routines, and become a new person after one sedated, sleepless night? They'll put it off like "no, no, I can start next week"- and then next thing you know its fucking summertime and you're trying to confidently wear a bathing suit and not smoke cigarettes in front of your parents.

A new year should be a year of brand new things, places, people, etc. Not the new you, unless you're addicted to crack or something- that person definitely has some room for change. But for normal people, whatever ever defines normal- their new years resolution should be one thing: be happy. And it can go on forever- be happy with yourself, your body, your family, your lover, or not having a lover, your work, your house, your friends. And when you've reached the nirvana of being content, then there's room for change, things you're unhappy with- you drink too much, or spend too much money on cigarettes, or want to go to the gym more.

We're all obsessed with being these perfect people, and when we are not being them, we give ourselves so much shit. We sigh and look at the thinner person, or the friend who makes more money, and we compare and compare and compare when thats no way to live.

I recently went on a trip to Park City with my family. And I met an older couple who were still working mediocre jobs, listening to dubstep, smoking weed everyday, and going out every night. But they were happy, they were so happy together with their lives.

The next person you see walking into a gym in a business suit who just left the bank and their nine to five job, look them in the eye, and ask yourself:
"Is that person really happy?"
And then go look in the mirror and smile. Because even if you're not happy, you will be.
Because there is always room for change, for happiness.
